![]() There are plenty of blogs out there with plenty of ideas, so why should you start one? What can you write about that hasn’t already been said? I will give you the golden three reasons why, as a writer, it is beneficial to start a blog. 1. Keeps You Writing A blog, when well maintained, makes the blogger write one post at least 2-4 times a month. It keeps the writer from becoming stagnant, because, unlike writing a book (that won’t see new eyes for a while) a blog has readers that crave consistently new material, which holds the blogger accountable. It forces you to write and doesn’t let your practice get rusty. 2.Builds a Readership Every writer needs an audience. The blog doesn’t even need to be exclusively about writing and books either. It can be about anything that you consider yourself knowledgeable in, even a commentary about something currently in pop-culture. I’ll admit, during my Twi-hard days, I found and followed an author after I found his Twilight blog discussing his perspective of Twilight as a guy. By writing on a blog, you can start drawing in a group of people that is interested in your potential short stories, poetry, or novels. 3.Community Writing can be lonely and secluded but blogging comes with a built-in community. Other bloggers are easy to reach out to and can be helpful. You might also reach out to other writers/bloggers who can help you with your own potential stories/poems. The community can make writing not so lonely. It is a personal preference at the end of the day. If you don’t have time for the extra writing, don’t stress yourself out trying to scratch time out of your busy day. However, it undeniably has its bonuses. Comments are closed.
