Unsolicited Press publishes bold, distinctive fiction, poetry, and hybrid work from emerging and established voices. We partner with independent bookstores to bring these titles directly into readers’ hands.

The Nitty Gritty Details

  • Our titles are distributed primarily through Asterism Books, a distributor owned and operated by independent presses and built to support direct relationships with bookstores.

    • Available to brick-and-mortar bookstores, college bookstores, and mobile bookshops

    • No minimum order

    • Orders ship directly through Asterism

    • Invoices are due within 30 days

  • Asterism (Preferred Ordering Channel)

    • 40% discounts

    • Optional prepayment: +8% additional discount (often offsets shipping)

    • Net 30 terms

    • No minimum order

    • Nonreturnable, with limited exceptions

    Ingram

    • Available through standard Ingram systems

    • Due to the double-dipping charges they impose against publishers and indie bookstores, we do not accept returns through Ingram.

  • Asterism titles are generally nonreturnable, with the following exceptions:

    • Damaged books (eligible for replacement or credit)

    • Event orders (returnable within 30 days of the event)

    • College course adoptions (returnable within 90 days)

    All returned books must be in new, sellable condition.

  • To support bookstore ordering, Unsolicited Press offers a limited exchange option on select orders.

    How It Works

    • Applies to orders placed through Asterism or directly through Unsolicited Press

    • Exchange requests must be made within 90 days of invoice date

    • Up to 50% of the original quantity per title may be exchanged

    • Books must be in new, saleable condition

    Exchange Terms

    • Exchanges are for other Unsolicited Press titles of equal or similar wholesale value

    • No cash or credit refunds

    • Return shipping is the responsibility of the bookstore

    • Replacement titles ship after receipt and inspection

    Unsolicited Press offers exchanges as an additional option to help bookstores manage inventory risk.

    We understand that nonreturnable terms can require more consideration when placing orders. This exchange program is designed to reduce that risk while maintaining a sustainable model for independent publishing. If a book is not finding its readers, we would rather help you place a different title into your hands than lose the opportunity to build a lasting bookselling relationship.
