UNSOLICITED PRESS ANNOUNCES A FIERCELY HONEST MEMOIR: GETTING DRESSED IN THE DARK: AN ARTIST’S WAY HOME By Gabriella D’Italia

Portland, OR — Unsolicited Press is proud to announce the upcoming release of GETTING DRESSED IN THE DARK: AN ARTIST’S WAY HOME, a raw and evocative memoir by interdisciplinary artist Gabriella D’Italia. Publishing on October 24, 2025, this work is a luminous meditation on betrayal, resilience, and the salvific power of art.

When Gabriella’s husband Rob confesses to an affair with one of her young friends, the emotional rupture is immediate—marked by a gut reaction and a punch to the mouth. But the wound goes deeper than a crumbled relationship. It fractures a life of radical honesty, unconventional living, and decades of artistic co-creation.

Set against the backdrop of a converted 19th-century schoolhouse in rural Maine and rich with reflection, Getting Dressed in the Dark traverses the wreckage of a marriage and the detritus of a once-shared creative life. D’Italia writes with unflinching vulnerability and poetic insight, exploring the messy intersections of identity, art, and the material world we build around us.

This is not just a memoir of loss—it is a reclamation. Through memory, place, and practice, Gabriella reassembles herself piece by piece, discovering what remains when the story you believed in most collapses.
