Unsolicited Press Announces the Release of A History of Handthrown Walls by Adele Evershed
Unsolicited Press is delighted to announce the publication of A History of Handthrown Walls ($18.95), a groundbreaking novella-in-flash by Adele Evershed. Shortlisted for The Reflex Novella Awards—where it placed in the top eight out of 145 submissions—this inventive work blends history, imagination, and place into a tapestry as enduring as the stone walls that inspire it.
Handthrown Walls are scattered across the Connecticut landscape, silent witnesses to centuries of change. In this captivating collection, each flash fiction piece—whether framed as a letter, pamphlet, poem, or story—stands complete on its own, yet together they form an interconnected narrative spanning from pre-colonial times through pivotal historical moments, and into a haunting dystopian future. The result is a sweeping yet intimate meditation on time, memory, and the marks humans leave behind.
Adele Evershed’s artistry lies in her ability to layer forms and voices while holding fast to a central motif, offering readers both variety and cohesion. With a prose style at once grounded and imaginative, she brings to life the Connecticut landscape and reveals its power to carry human stories across centuries.
