Badalamenti tells the story every mother and daughter needs to read.
Unsolicited Press announces the immediate availability of I DON’T BLAME YOU by Frances Badalamenti, a story of losing a mother a mere two months before becoming a mother. Ana, a mother-to-be, travels between her home in Portland, Oregon and New Jersey, where her mother resides. The narrative tackles everything from her own mother’s upbringing in the Bronx to her parents’ bitter divorce after raising three children and after twenty-five years of marriage. Badalamenti gives readers a brave and vulnerable protagonist who must cope with grief while choosing to deliver her baby at home. What results is a story built by many threads that come together in wildly successful, and often painful, ways.
Frances Badalamenti was raised in Queens, New York and Suburban New Jersey, but she now lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and son. Her work can be found at Mutha Magazine, Hip Mama, Longreads, Vol.1 Brooklyn and forthcoming in The Believer Magazine. I Don’t Blame You is her debut novel. She is currently working on another book.
